The 4th Sonnet is named for Oliver Wendell Holmes and his lovely poem about autumn flowers - The Golden Flower.

Worked up in supremely soft Green Sheep Fingering from The Unique Sheep in a golden color perfect for the poem…

When spring is but a spendthrift’s dream,
And summer’s wealth a wasted dower,
Nor dews nor sunshine may redeem,--
Then autumn coins his Golden Flower.

This shawlette is worked top down and is offered with charted directions. A 2-row crochet bind-off edges the lovely petal lace at the bottom of the shawlette.

The twisted stitches in the body shawl wave down to form the stems of the flowers.
