I first created this little hat in anticipation of the birth of my son, who came in the cooler months in the PNW. He quickly outgrew it and while I made others for family and friends, the original hat sat on a shelf, waiting for its pattern to be written and shared. A simple project that can be made for your babes as they grow, and a quick enough knit to make as a last minute gift. There are so many combinations - use a contrasting color for the ribbing or tie, or sans pom pom. I’ve had a lot of fun over the years making all sorts of versions, including a solid version using either a DK weight yarn held double or substituting a worsted weight yarn held single. -Ashley
