This laceweight scarf came about after I fell in love with some of Hedgehog Fibres’ Potluck yarns. It is very easy to fall for colourful variegated yarns in the skein, but as a lace knitter it is harder to know what to do with them! I set myself a challenge to create something that would do justice to the amazing yarn and also keep me amused as I made it. And I wanted most of all for there to be lots of movement in the pattern. I wanted to showcase the colours in the yarn, rather than the lace pattern, so I used a smaller needle than usual to get a denser fabric.

My scarf blocked to about 160cm/63in long by 30cm/12in wide, however the final size will vary according to your own choice of yarn and needle, as well as your knitting tension. The pattern can be easily adapted for other weights of yarns – this is really just a recipe to start from.

Requirements:
100g 700m of laceweight yarn – I used a skein of Hedgehog Fibres Silk Merino Lace
2.25mm/US 1 needles.
Wool needle to darn in ends.
Wires and pins for blocking.
