Once upon a time I had some handspun yarn that just didn’t know what it wanted to be when it grew up. It tried on lots of patterns, but it just didn’t fit just right!

So…… I made a new pattern just for it and Whinfell was born.

I’m on a bit of a Hap kick right now and wanted to transform this handspun into a lovely new shawl so I cast on and knit just seeing where the mood took me.

The shawl consists of a basic garter stitch triangle which is cast off using an icord bind off to give a lovely finish.

In the traditional Shetland style the border is then picked up and knit on.

Veering away from tradition I worked a lovely cable and lace pattern which frames the simple garter centre beautifully
