This design is dedicated to Diana, Katya, her partner, & Aurika.

I purchased the yarn for this design from a lovely Romanian friend living in NZ, who flew back to Romania soon after the invasion of Ukraine by Russian Forces, to celebrate a very important life with her family and friends there, her much loved Dad. Sadly, he passed away before she was able to see him one more time.

During the design process I was also trying to maintain regular contact with a Ukrainian friend, who because of the invasion, finds herself ’living’ between her home & a basement shelter in the home next door. Her partner is away fighting the war & her teenage daughter was for a time, relocated to another town, in a quieter, safer area. So much upheaval & angst.

Whispering Hope is a top down, crescent shawl, featuring various stitch patterns, which, when combined together, produce a strikingly defined, almost architectural appearance. None of the stitches used are difficult, & tutorials are linked, for those who might find them beneficial.

Regular increases work to give the shawl it’s shape, & there are 2 finishing options: either an I-Cord bind off, or a quicker alternative.

This design will work with any DK weight yarn that produces good stitch definition.
