Yarn Filatura di Crosa Zara Chiné (100% wool; 137 yd 125 m/1 3/4 oz 50 g): #821 gray, 3 balls. Yarn distributed by Tahki-Stacy Charles Inc.

Needles Rib—size 21/2 (3 mm): 16” circular (cir) and set of double-pointed (dpn). Cabled section—size 5 (3.75 mm): 16” cir and set of dpn. Adjust needle size if necessary to obtain the correct gauge.

Notions Markers (m); cable needle (cn); tapestry needle; six 3/8” buttons for mitts; 25” length of 1 mm round covered elastic cord for beret.

The Whitewood Beret features alternating panels of purl-barred keyholes and thick braids, separated by reverse stockinette, while the coordinating Whitewood Mitts have a single panel of the purl-barred cable and smaller versions of the braids at the sides of the hands. Small buttons close the cuff at the outside of the wrist.
