This rug is worked in surface crochet into a non-slip rug mat. It is worked in two passes, one laying over the other, to fill the entire mat. The pattern (excepting the border) involves long straight lines, which makes the work go quickly. The finished rug has a short, dense pile.

I used a self-striping yarn to get the shading in the picture.

Each square foot of rug takes about 200 metres for the under layer and another 200 metres of a thinner yarn for the over layer. Gauge and yarn size very fungible.

Stitches: sc, ch, hdc.
