It’s still dim. The sun hasn’t risen, but out the window, the world looks like an overexposed image- everything is white, bright, brighter than possible. Blue light spills across the earth, overcoming the clouded sky. Each tree branch is tufted with piles of lofty snow, and the flakes feather up into the sky as if the very snowcloud itself is on wings only a few feet from takeoff. Little gusts send the flakes soaring and swirling like hawks riding thermal currents, mini tornadoes across the yard. On the muted television, a suited woman full of professionalism and caffeine assertively gesticulates across a map full of cold fronts and radar while the tiny scroll at the bottom of the screen slowly turns over. Another snow day. The sun hasn’t quite broken through, but the little hands, cozy and excited, prepare a sugar-breakfast of hot cocoa to toast the wonderful day of freedom ahead.

Sweater is worked from the top down, flat to start and then joined in the round at front when neckline shaping is completed. Remainder of the sweater is worked in the round. Please slip all markers as you come to them throughout the pattern.
