When my little brother mentioned to me that he wanted a red and black striped hat with “those twisty things, and the bumpy stuff on the edge” (i.e. cables and ribbing) I jumped at the opportunity. Very rarely do the men in my life actually ask me to knit things for them-- usually I feel like they wear the things I make just to humor me! Together we came up with an idea that he liked and I don’t think he has taken it off since then (much to the chagrin of my mother). Since then, I had a sample knit up in blue and green and, with the brim folded up, thinks it makes a lovely ladies hat too!
