This is my entry for the socks revived contest. Winding Way is a mellow colorwork sock worked toe-up with a short row heel on two circular needles. The version shown pairs a wildly variegated yarn with a compatible semi-solid color.

Note about yarn usage: The Women’s small pair of socks knit using Hazel Knits Artisan sock used approximately 200 yards of each color. Different yarn, gauge, or size will change the amount of yarn needed. This is just to give you a rough estimate.

6/21/2010 If you downloaded a copy of my free Winding Way sock pattern before this date, there is a typo in the bind off instructions. The second sentence reads: As if to knit (left to right), bring the tapestry needle and yarn tail through only the first stitch and drop of knitting needle.

The ‘drop of needle’ should be ‘DROP OFF needle’. I have uploaded a corrected version of the pattern. Apologies for any confusion or inconvenience this may cause.
