This is a reversible beanie hat pattern that is based around the knitted rice stitch. I first noticed the “wrong side” of the knitted fabric when I had to frog back a row I made a mistake in and on the other side was an interesting ribbing type stitch that mirrored the rice stitch (as you’d expect).

Key Features:

  • This pattern is to fit head circumference: baby (14”), toddler (16”), child (18”), Adult M.(21”), Adult L (23”), and Adult XL (26”).
  • You will be able to quickly knit up this pattern on either 4mm DPNs or on 4mm circular needles using the magic loop method start from the bottom (ribbing) up.
  • To get the right gauge you will need to use a DK weight yarn or equivalent and you can easily make 1 - 2 hats (depending on which sizes you make) out of one skein of yarn.
  • The pattern is designed using one colour but you can easily switch to a contrast yarn just after you have done the ribbing to create an interesting alternative.
