When your feet are cold or tired, nothing beats pulling on cozy, warm socks. The Winter Light socks are worked holding sport weight yarn double, so they are really thick and comforting. The ribbed cuff can be worn long for knee-length socks, or folded down for some extra warmth around the ankles. The socks are very simple – just stockinette, garter and ribbing – so the knitting itself is very comforting, too!

Materials:
• Yarn: 2 skeins of Vuorelma Veto (85% merino, 15% nylon; 256 m / 280 yds per 100 g) or approximately 512 m / 560 yds of sport weight yarn (the yarn is held double)
• Needles: 4 mm / US 6 dpns or size needed to obtain gauge
• Stitch markers (optional)

The sample was knit using Vuorelma Veto.

Gauge:
18 sts x 25 rnds = 10 cm / 4” in stockinette stitch knit in the round, after blocking.

Size:
Finished foot circumference: 20 cm / 8”
Cuff length (unfolded): 34 cm / 13.5”
Foot length: Adjustable

Notes:
The sock is worked with the sport weight yarn held double throughout. A worsted weight sock yarn (held single) could be substituted instead (but do a gauge swatch first!).
The socks are knit toe up. The sample was knit with dpns, but the instructions are suited for all methods of sock knitting.
