I love shawls, especially this time of year when they can act as a light jacket. This shawl is very similar to a shawl I designed years ago for Vogue Knitting. However, this shawl has a stockinette base and a longer section of gull lace which is also where the outside edges do not increase.

I used almost all four skeins of the Tosh DK (delicious to knit with) and a US 8, 24” circular needle for the entire piece. You start with 2 stitches and end with 383 stitches. There are two options in casting off - a crochet version or a knit one.

The shawl can be made longer/wider if you have more than 900 yards, simply keep repeating the last section.

This is a super beginner lace project. There are a total of four lace patterns used, one of which is in the spine of the shawl. Winter Rain will hold your interest.
