Winter’s Moon was inspired by the Super Moons seen at the beginning of 2019. The color and sparkle of the yarn reminded me of the moonlight reflecting on the snow. And I wished I had a soft yet warm shawl made of moonlight to wrap myself in.

It is a triangle shaped shawl worked asymmetrically from the top left corner to the right edge.

Yarn:
Pandia’s Jewels Snazzy Sport (80/20 SW Merino/ Nylon 328 yds/ 100 grams- 2 skeins in color Whisper

Pandia’s Jewels Sparkle Mohair Lace (63/12/23/2 super kid mohair/ lurex / nylon /sequins 734 yds/ 110 grams- 1 skein in color Whisper

This Mohair Sequin Yarn base was discontinued by the manufacturer. Any lace weight can be substituted. But I suggest a mohair or alpaca blend which will add a nice halo to the completed shawl.

Yardage:
Sport Weight: 565- 600 yds
Lace Weight: 697- 730 yds

This shawl is knit holding one strand of Sport weight and one strand of Lace together. If you do not want to hold two strands of yarn together this shawl can be knit with one strand of DK weight with the right needle size to meet gauge.

Gauge: 14 sts and 24 rows = 4” in shawl body pattern blocked.

Notions: Stitch Marker, Cable Needle, Darning Needle.

Finished Measurements: Wingspan is 76” with a depth of 32.5”

The way this shawl is constructed you can make it as small or as large as you would like. Please keep in mind that making alterations in size will change the yardage requirements.

Pattern is for intermediate knitters because it involves cable knitting, knot stitch, and cluster stitches.
