The coming of the first Polar Vortex left us with a desperate need for a ward against the freezing winds and biting ice. With another Vortex on the way, what better to protect us from winter’s chill than a fire-breathing dragon?

Pattern includes chart and cast-on/bind-off instructions, along with the basics of double-knitting. If you can knit and purl, you can double-knit! I do recommend having a bit of chart-reading experience under your wings before starting this project as this is a bit of a complex chart.

You can also choose to use this chart for a non-reversible colorwork cowl.

A tight tension is essential for this project, as double-knitting can be looser than other forms of knitting. If you are concerned that your tension may be too loose, I would recommend picking up 2 skeins of each color for 4 skeins total, as this pattern uses almost all of the yarn from 2 skeins of Malabrigo Worsted Merino. Leftovers would make a great hat!

The Epic Knits Group will be hosting a KAL for this project starting now and going through the month of February, you can check out the thread over here! ~ http://www.ravelry.com/discuss/epic-knits/topics/2815527
