I designed this specifically for my grandma, who doesn’t wear hats but wanted something to warm her ears in winter.

This is a quick and easy knit which can be whipped up with stash yarn, since it needs only 65 yards of DK yarn. But this headband can also be knit with a small amount of any worsted weight or aran yarn. The gauge is given for a DK yarn but since gauge isn’t crucial with this project you can substitute any yarn you like as long as the width of you headband covers your ears.

The orange headband in the pictures was knit with Drops Karisma (only 30 grams), The dark grey one with a fingering weight Schachenmayr Merino held double (you’ll need a bit more than one skein).

The headband is easily customisable by adding buttons or other embellishments.

Please note: Since I used a free kniting font (the only one that works on my computer) the chart doesn’t show the regular cable symbols. However, it should be understandable once you read the instructions. I am sorry about this but I wasn’t able to install any other font on my old PC.
