The title of this shawlette alludes to part of a line from the song “My Favorite Things”. Another way of looking at it is that this shawlette is crescent shaped, which is technically just like the moon at least on some evenings. Wear it around your back and shoulders and you are sort of wearing a moon on your “wings”! I chose to work this shawlette in a bulky weight yarn for a change, and was thrilled to see how quickly it worked up. Also, the cables really pop with a bulky yarn. I used 2 and a quarter skeins of Bernat’s Roving wool blend bulky weight yarn in the Rice Paper shade (120 yards per skein). A super bulky weight yarn would also work with this pattern, but nothing lighter in weight than bulky or it will end up being too small. Beginning with a Lobster Claw Cable Border Stitch, this shawlette is knit from the bottom up through the body of the shawlette. The focal point of the shawl is the Twining Vine Cable Stitch Pattern at the body’s center. The crescent shape is achieved through the use of short rows. After blocking, this shawlette is just over 5 feet in length, and is 14 ½ inches wide at the deepest center point. Full written instructions with row counts and charts are included in the pattern.
