Simple socks that work up quickly in DK/8ply yarn. Knit from the toe-up, with short-row shaping and a slip-stitch heel, Woodcove are seriously comfy socks, with a touch of texture and some fun colour-blocking.

Preview knitters found Woodcove socks a great fit on a wide variety of feet. The pattern provides advice for length adjustments, and pointers to make the calf section narrower or wider as needed.

For the foot and cuff, choose a hardy yarn with good stitch definition. I’ve used Circus Tonic ‘Hoopla’ Untreated BFL DK in ‘Nutmeg’ for my sample. The leg can be knit in any DK yarn. I received yarn support from Great Ocean Road Woollen Mill in the development of this design, and their ‘Eva’ Polwarth/alpaca yarn is perfect for the leg section. Sample (M) used approximately 150m/162yd Main Colour and 80m/88yd Contrast Colour. Model’s foot measures 22cm/8½”.

Sized to fit foot circumference of:
XS: 19-20cm/7½-7¾”
S: 20-21cm/7¾-8¼“
M: 21.5-22.5cm/8½-8¾”
L: 23-24cm/9-9½”
XL: 24.5-25.5 cm/9½-10”

Woodcove are designed to fit with 3-4cm/1¼ -1½” of negative ease. Length is customisable, and a schematic is included.
