Growing up on the west coast, the California Grizzly was my state’s official animal. But this wild and beautiful subspecies of the brown bear was declared extinct in 1924. And there are fewer than 1500 grizzlies left in the United States. Their endearingly pouty expression softens the massive power of this creature. In fact, the teddy bear toy industry has capitalized on the cuteness of this deceivingly cuddly animal.

Enjoy making this double knit Woodland Grizzly Potholder featuring its skillful capture of a yummy salmon for its dinner. If you’re unfamiliar with double knitting, this small potholder is a great way to learn this knitting technique. Both sides are the same, except with reversed colors. You’ll get the accomplishment of finishing a beautiful project and the confidence of adding a new skill to your knitting basket.

With this instantly downloadable PDF pattern, you’ll have all the help you need to get started!
