Inspired by the effigy tomb of the Black Prince, which I am using to create the silhouette and fabric detail of this mini-dress.

The color work is parti-coloring, whereby a garment is divided into halves or quarters with coloration. The bas relief motifs, Lion & Fleur-de-Lys, are reminiscent of the elements on Edward’s coat of arms.

Tip: When knitting into a purl stitch or purling into a knit stitch while working one of the jacquard motifs in this garment, twist the stitch (work into the back if you usually work into the front and vice versa) to make the motif stand out more clearly.
