For this basket you will actually start by making your own felted cord to knit with. You make a simple crocheted chain (and lots of it!) and then felt it in the washing machine. So you will need access to a washing machine, plus one or more delicates bags to put the cord inside.

Once you know how to make the cord, you can use it for other projects, too. It’s about 1/2-inch thick, so very similar to some of the other giant yarns or wool bumps out there now. But I like how it has a very smooth texture. I wasn’t able to find anything like it in stores, so I decided to make it myself!
