Simple, fast, fun, no-shaping-involved pattern for fingerless mitts.

The pattern is a simple tube of k1p1 ribbing with a buttonhole-type opening for the thumb. The ribbing is stretchy enough to fit most hands with no further shaping necessary.

It is a fantastic way to use up novelty yarn, Early Handspun, combined oddments from other projects, and the like.

The fingerless mitts are quickly knit, making them suitable for last-minute gifts.

Use a skein of bulky yarn or combine 2 or more strands of thinner yarn.

Suggested gauge is 3-4 stitches per inch in the 1x1 ribbing. Use the first few inches of your first mitt as your gauge swatch.

These can be made as Wribbit! mittens instead of wristers.

This pattern was inspired by a Norah Gaughan pattern in the Fall 2002 issue of Interweave Knits. The concept is similar -- 24-stitch ribbed fingerless mitts -- but the yarn, construction details, finishing trim, and of course the wording of the pattern, differ from the original.
