This bag can be scaled up or down as needed.

The bag was designed to be a comfortable and cute way to carry around a sock project. Originally, I sized it to hold a nice fat cake of sock yarn and a sock project on top.

I’ve also made it as a doorknob bag, to hang on the doorknob and hold my keys and sunglasses so I don’t mislay them.

It can be made out of just about any yarn, though a non-fuzzy washable cotton works excellently. The amount of yarn will vary, depending on the size you make your bag.

The original idea for this came from knitting a sweater leave from the cuff ribbing as a swatch for a sweater. Knitting in the round is the best way to swatch something to be knit in the same way …but I was left with this little short piece of knitting … so I closed up the bottom with a square of garter stitch and made it into a bag. Then I decided to make another bag a bit bigger, but this time from the bottom up.

It’s still a great way to use a swatched piece of knitting in the round too.
