This top-down, seamless sweater is designed to resemble one worn by Mary Margaret (Snow White) in the TV series, “Once Upon A Time.” Brioche increases and decreases give this pretty pullover its design pattern and beautifully squishy texture.

If you’ve felt intimidated by the special language used in brioche knitting, this pattern will give you a great introduction with a photo tutorial written in simple terms.

Please note that blocking the finished sweater is important to make the edges of the diamonds lay flat, and to give the brioche excellent drape.

Also note that the pattern has positive ease for the largest of the size range for each size. If you would like a snugger fit, you will want to go down a size. Also, if the neckline feels too loose, you can snug it up with a single round of crochet.

Sizes:
XL (2XL, 3XL, 4XL), for Bust sizes 46-48” (50-52”, 54-56”, 58-60”)
(XS to LG sizes can be found in a separate pattern)

Stitches Used:
K (knit), P (purl), K2tog (knit 2 together), ssk (slip-slip-knit), M1 (make 1), and brioche sts described in attached Tutorial

Materials:

  • Diamond yarns Galway Chunky yarn, 9 (9.5, 10.5, 11.5) skeins 1080 (1160, 1280, 1360) yards, or another Bulky weight yarn that works up to the same Gauge. It would look more authentic in a yarn with a little more halo, such as angora or mohair blend! NOTE: the design seems to look better if you can find a bulky yarn with a smaller core (more like worsted or Aran weight) and lots of halo that make it officially a bulky weight.
  • size US 10 (6.00mm) circular needles
  • 8 regular stitch markers, 1 end of round marker (1 regular marker will be reserved for later)
