Yarny Headphones - A Tutorial by Grace Ann

Yarny Headphones - A Tutorial

This pattern is available for free.

I love music. I have since I was little. Besides the fiber arts, music is my absolute favorite art form. So why not combine my two favorite things?

You’ll need headphones (I specify certain things to look for when choosing a pair), about 30 yards total of worsted weight yarn (play with color and use up those scraps!), size 3 needles (or whatever size you need to create a fabric you can’t see through), a foot of strong fingering weight yarn, and a mini screwdriver to disassemble your headphones (I used one from an eyeglass repair kit).

I used white Sony headphones. I provide a link in the post if you want to buy the exact ones I used. Obviously, I can’t provide a tutorial that will cover ALL the headphones out there, so you may have to do a bit of customizing to fit your specific pair. This will be more of a recipe rather than a pattern. If you DO happen to have those headphones, I provide the exact pattern I personally used.

I personally knit all the pieces in stockinette but please feel free to use your imagination! You could do all sorts of things here: Garter, cables, fair isle, any stitch pattern you like, any color combo you like, you could embellish with fabric flowers, bows, anything!
