This yoga mat was super fulfilling when completed. The whole project was done using Paton’s Classic Wool worsted, which is 100% wool an NOT superwash. I recommend using only this wool for the pattern to turn out looking like photos. It is important that the wool felts well.

To complete the pattern I used two 100g. skeins of black wool and about 50 g, of meadow (green) for handle/’stems’ and probably about 50 g. of blue fog (or whatever color you like) for decorative flowers.

Pattern requires a circular US9 needle and a set of US9 double pointed needles. Tapestry needle and regular needle and thread also required for finishing.

The body of the pattern is worked in the round from the top down. The straps on the bottom of the bag are worked flat on double pointed needles and kitchener stitch is used to graft them together at bottom. Pattern includes directions for 3 ways to finish bottom of the bag: simple criss-cross, bow bottom and flower bottom (pictured).

Strap is constructed separately using i-cord knitting. Flowers are done in the round on double pointed needles.

Body, strap and flowers are knitted and felted separately and sewed together after felting.

Pattern includes many photos and diagrams to guide you through each step of construction.
