This is a sideways shawl that was inspired by a beautiful skein of yarn named “Phantom of the Opera”, hand-dyed by Tami of Eternity Ranch. This is an installment of her “Year of Musicals” in her 2015 yarn dying creations. When I first saw the colors I noticed that they were a collage of the logo’s colors. But once I finished the shawl and blocked it, it totally gave me feelings reminiscent of seeing the Broadway show when my parents took me. The way the colors worked down the shawl I could feel the mystery, the chandelier, the surprise, the tension, and the sage of Erik and Christine; him getting his first and only kiss, Christine keeping him a secret and wearing his gold ring, and sadly, eventually his death. A beautiful tribute to an unforgettable production.

SHAPE: Thin crescent

NOTIONS: 2 stitch markers. Tapestry needle for weaving in ends.

PATTERN STYLE: The pattern contains written as well as chart instructions. There is a key and full abbreviation list included as well.

DIFFICULTY: Advanced Beginner

YARN: This pattern is specifically designed to show off interesting and unique variegated yarn.

SIZE: 62” x 13” (Blocked and unpinned)

NOTE: You will need to weigh your yarn on a scale before you start, and as you knit this shawl. If you are not using a scale, you MUST swatch to get gauge and follow the repeats of the sample.

The beauty of the construction of this shawl is you can make as small or as large as you would like, repeating the sections according to your OWN skein’s yardage, enabling you to use very close to the entire skein of yarn.
