Afghan - About 50” wide and 63” long.
Pillow – About 18” square (to fit 14” pillow form).

Materials: Worsted Weight Yarn :
Main Color (MC) – (60oz, 2060yd; 1700g, 1880m)
Various Colors (CC) – (10.5oz, 627yd; 300g, 573m)
(Lion Brand Organic Cotton – Almond (MC) & Bernat Mosaic – Optimistic, Ambrosia & Calypso (CC) used in model.)

Additional Materials:
Yarn Needle.
14” Square Pillow Form.

Crochet Hook: Size J-10 (6.00 mm) or size needed to obtain gauge.

Gauge: Each Block (Rnds1-5) = 6½“ square.

With the universe in mind, I decided that each circle would represent a planet in the universe. I tried stars but I could never get them to look right - they seemed to clutter the design. The simplicity of the planet squares and yarn colors made it elegant and calm.

This is the first time I have ever designed and crocheted an afghan for anyone - it took me forever!

Bill loves his afghan - he says it’s artwork. He want’s to hang it on the wall but it’s a little too big : >

This is a very simple crochet design but for some reason I kept making mistakes on the rounds. At one point I had all the squares finished with all the ends sewed in and half of them were crocheted wrong! This is a great design to use up scraps of worsted weight yarn. Enjoy!
