From Pattern Description
“When Christene offered to knit a wedding shawl for her sister-in-law, they discussed a garment that would bring together a combination of traditions… After some research and a lot of swatching, Yuing’s shawl grew from Faroese shaping, its border combining the lines of the Sweedish marriage path and patterns inspired by those on the back of a 1st century Eastern Han Dynasty mirror. The characters on the center panel translate to “to hear or understand” and “the tone or pitch” and are often used to describe true harmony, particularly between two people, and I hope the harmony will follow Yuing and Anthony (and others that one might find a wedding shawl to be an appropriate project for) through their own marriage path for many years to come“
