Spruce up your winter coat with dazzling knitted accessories. These dizzying diamonds of knitting will prompt others to ask you if your hat was quilted, woven, or complicated. But actually, entrelac is a very simple technique, where you work just a few stitches at a time. The Yvette pattern was written with the knitter who is new to entrelac in mind. Start with the mitten cuffs to become comfortable with the technique, and soon you’ll be ready for the entrelac shaping on the crown of the beret! Finished measurements will fit a 21-23” head circumference and a woman’s M-L hand.

You will need US 7 (4.5 mm) 16” or longer circulars, plus DPNs or spare needles, US 6 (4 mm) 16” or longer circulars or DPNs, US 7 (4.5 mm) DPNs, US 6 (4 mm) DPNs, or long circular for Magic Loop, a yarn needle and stitch markers.
