ZENDA
Spring is near, which means it’s nice to keep out the cold with a pair of soft wrist warmers when you change to your spring jacket! Zenda is a beautiful little cuff or wrist warmer project for a nice fingering weight yarn and it will keep you warm and cozy until the summer hits. Knit using short-rows, it’s a quick and fun knit and an excellent practice if you’re new to short-row knitting.

Zenda is the name of a variety of wheat in the USA. There are six different classes of wheat in the USA who are all ideal for different climates and soil types. Zenda is part of the Hard Red Winter class and it is well suited for all types of bread and all-purpose flour.

GENERAL
Zenda is knit sideways, starting with a provisional cast-on. It is then knit from chart, and finally the two ends are grafted together using kitchener stitch. This creates a completely invisible seam. The base colour is always the same, while you can choose to switch the contrast colour between the wheat ears as you like.

SIZE
Approximately 14 cm high x 19 cm outer circumference (no blocking), using 2.5 mm needles. Fits comfortably on a 17 cm/6.7” wrist. If your wrists are very fine, choose a smaller needle size to get a tighter wrist warmer.

YARN
Manos del Uruguay, Fino (merino/silk singles), 400 m/100g (fingering/4ply). The sample cuffs use approx 15g (60 m) of SF419 Brass Button as BC, and approx 9g (36 m) of SF416 Amethyst as CC. Be careful to get proper contrast between BC and CC!
