Mitts are knit flat in two stitch patterns, Herringbone Lace and Stockinette. The lace falls on the top of the hand where it can be admired, while the stockinette falls on the palm. Garter stitch is also used to edge the top and bottom of the mitt. A slit is left for the thumb.

The buttons are decorative so use any size or amount, or omit. They are sewn over the seam.

You could use a multicolor paired with a solid color. Work one of the stitch patterns in a multicolor and use a solid color for the other.
