The sideways garter stitch construction of this hat gives it plenty of stretch so that it will fit toddlers/children from about 18 months up to about 6 years. What’s more, it looks super-cute :)

The pattern is a new version of a pattern I published a while ago called ‘Hörbe Hat’, which used a slightly heavier yarn that has been discontinued. This new version uses a lighter yarn, which is why I had to make some adaptions.

This pattern will be free until December 1st - enjoy and have fun knitting :)

Update 29.10.2019: Yesterday, I came across a very similar pattern on ravelry: Rocketeer by Woolly Wormhead, published in 2011, which by coincidence (I know it’s strange but I swear it’s true) was the same year I knitted my first Hörbe - back then, I didn’t know anything about ravelry and until yesterday, I didn’t know anything about Rocketeer.
I guess there must have been something in the air in 2011 so that both Woolly and I had a very similar idea in the very same year. I don’t know much about the details of her pattern (like stitch counts etc.), but the patterns do differ at least in so far as Hörbe uses a plain (and slightly visible) seam and comes in one size only, whereas Rocketeer offers several sizes and a more elegant (invisible) way of seaming. Thus I hope that both of the patterns - and the Zipf version also - can still peacefully continue to co-exist on ravelry. I’d never ever intentionally put a copy or a plagiarism of an already published pattern online. Considering the huge amount of patterns on ravelry, however, it seams that there is indeed the possibility that patterns unintentionally resemble each other.
