Our little sweet rescue Zoey was bitten by a large neighborhood dog in the neck and ear. She suffered puncture wounds and was left feeling quite defeated. Our girl enjoys wearing garments and blankets, so I thought she might like simple cowl with some left over yarn. I think it gives her some much needed confidence.
GO ZOEY!

UPDATE #2 - It’s been @4 weeks and Zoey needed surgery to address a major infection in the base of her ear. She’s going to be ok in @21 days of meds. Thanks for your good wishes!

UPDATE #1 - It’s been @2 weeks and our girl is doing great and getting back into the social scene, just with the smaller dogs for now. She’s still healing, but ready for anything! THANK YOU SO MUCH for all the messages of love for her!

This cowl is a simple rib design and is a great project for new knitters. There is a simple button hole so the leash loop and pet tags can be brought though. Don’t forget to measure your dog’s neck. Zoey’s neck is 14”, so gauge is for her size and you can increase or decrease by + or - 4 stitches.

I often get asked for easy beginner patterns, so while this may seem too simple for an experienced knitter, some of us like to have the numbers in hand.

Feel free to share this pattern, teach beginner classes with it and also to sell what you make from it.**
