A zonkey (also known as a zedonk, donkra, zebrass, and so forth) is what results when a donkey and a zebra fall in love. If you adjust the striping, you can use this pattern to create either a donkey or zebra instead, or, with changes to the ears and tail, a horse or pony. If you want a more realistic looking zonkey, you can substitute brown, black, and white or cream rather than the bright colors used in the sample.

The construction of this friendly little guy involves a combination of short row shaping with standard increases and decreases, simple striping in fun colors, and embroidered facial features.

The pattern is offered in two files. One includes lots of photos to guide you through the written instructions; the other is text-only, therefore a smaller file size and easier on your printer.
