ZUNI PONCHO

**

I have always loved all things Southwestern. Even when I was a little girl, one of my first Dear Santa letters included a cowgir suit and boots. I still keep them! It did take me quite a while to actually get to the Southwest, but when I went it was on a very special occasion – my honeymoon!

At 15, my multi-talented aunt Rita taught me how to knit continental style, boosting my childish English-style knitting to new levels while making me discover one of my lifelong passions. Some years later, when I turned 25, my aunt Anne, herself a very talented, lovely and generous woman, gave me a beautiful Zuni cluster bracelet worked in silver and coral. I have treasured it ever since.
This pattern is dedicated to them.

The poncho is knitted in one piece from side to side, then embellished with crochet edging and embroidery.
