Notes

Purchased at MD S&W. Been wanting to try their fiber & yarn.

WPI Average - 10
Some 8, some 12

On the wheel for Day 1 of the 2015 Tour de Fleece.

Split the batt roughly in half. Turned out to be 62 & 66 gms. So not exact. So I will probably have to tweak it in plying to get it even.

I started with the thought that this would be a lovely for a lace shawl. And the fiber & prep told me that isn’t the best plan.

With the batt prep, it needs some loft and airiness to it. Definitely not worsted. Needs woolen to keep the air in it.

So while I have no clue what I wanted to do with the finished yarn, it was an interesting spin.

Day 1 Tour de Fleece 2015 - July 4th
Spun the first half of the fiber.

Day 2 Tour de Fleece 2015 - July 5th
Spun the second half of the fiber.

Going to let them rest a bit before plying them together. Hoping I can match the color transitions well.

Day 9 Tour de Fleece 2015 - July 12th
Started plying. Had some hiccups with trying to match the colors up. The reds were close & in the living room at night, there isn’t enough light. sigh Think it worked out okay. But there is definitely part where I didn’t line it up well.

Day 10 Tour de Fleece 2015 - July 13th
More plying. Think I have them matched up now. fingers crossed

Day 11 Tour de Fleece 2015 - July 114th
Plying finished.

Day 18 Tour de Fleece 2015 - July 21th - Rest Day
Got skeined and had its bath.

Wow!

It pumped up and got super light and squishy!!

Love love love the finished yarn. It is super springy & light. It is amazing. I adore it.

I can’t wait to get it on the needles. Thinking something like a hat or scarf. But also want to make a shawlette or cowl.

Leaning towards a cowl as I can wear it loose or wrap it in the winter to be close to the neck when cold. With all the bounce & airiness, it really feels like outwear would be ideal!

Though in a confession, I fought the batt and while spinning the single, I really didn’t think I would like the finished yarn. But I adore it. I tried to fight it at first because I wanted a thin shawl yarn. And it wasn’t meant to be that. It is gorgeous and plump.

All in all, I love the batt & have learned so much in spinning it. Amazing stuff.
