Made some modifications to fit the sock blank that Dani so kindly gifted me.

Followed directions for the Mini size. First row is purled as in the Wee Tiny Mermaid Sock pattern. Knitted about 7 rows of skin color yarn, then 5 in “mermaid scale” colors. Then, I followed the directions exactly throughout the heel turn and gusset. I only knitted 3 plain rows for the foot instead of 5.

When the decreases are finished and 8 sts remain, I switched over to the directions for the mermaid tail in the Wee Tiny Mermaid Sock pattern. Followed the first 3 rounds, but when I got to round 4, I knitted 16 instead of 17 sts and placed the 11 unworked sts (the ones that I would knit next but did not yet) onto scrap yarn.

Then, I joined the 11 sts still on the needle in the round because I did not want to sew anything in the end…

I followed rows 1-4 of the pattern while replacing the slip 1’s with k1’s and then knitted another row before decreasing.

Decrease as follows:
k1, k2tog, knit until 3 sts remain, ssk, k1 (16)

k2, k2tog, knit until 4 sts remain, ssk, k2 (14)

k3, k2tog, knit until 5 sts remain, ssk, k3 (12)

k4, k2tog, ssk, k4 (10)

Then, I fudged the rest of the decreases until I had 4 sts left. Not very happy with the way the tail shape turned out… I am not very good at positioning my decreases lol. It looks okay to me but might not be good enough for perfectionists. If it were a gift, I would probably go back and try to figure it out, but since this is just for dressing my naked sock blank, I’m okay with it having a little character ;)
