As I was aiming for a more cropped version - finishing just above my hipbones - I decided to knit this top down following the mods by jrj9 but in size 3 (36” bust).

This hibernated for a couple of months while we uprooted the family and moved from sunny WA to chilly Tas - despite the change in climate, I decided on short sleeves.
EDIT: I went back to this almost two years later and made it long sleeved with a bit more length in the body for a warm Winter sweater. I’ve updated the yardage but the following notes are for the original version.

The following notes are mostly a direct copy of jrj9’s, except for the different stitch counts and a few other minor modifications. I just wanted it all written down for my own reference :)

Cast on 80st with 6mm needles
7 rows of k2,p2 ribbing

Yoke:
rows 1-3: k even
row 4: k2, m1 around; 120st
row 5: k even
row 6: k2, m1 around; 180st
row 7: k even
rows 8-26: owls chart (worked upside-down)
rows 27-35: k even

Split off for Sleeves:
row 36: k26, thread next 36st onto waste yarn, k56, thread next 36st onto waste yarn, k26

Body:
place shaping markers 12st either side of row marker
rows 1-19: k even; 108st
row 20 (decrease): knit to 3sts before first shaping marker, k2tog, k1, sm, k1, k2tog; repeat at second shaping marker; 104st
rows 21-29: k even
row 30 (decrease): knit to 3sts before first shaping marker, k2tog, k1, sm, k1, k2tog; repeat at second shaping marker; 100st
rows 31-39: k even
row 40 (increase): knit to 1st before first shaping marker, m1, k1, sm, k1, m1; repeat at second shaping marker; 104st
rows 41-44: k even
row 45 (increase): knit to 1st before first shaping marker, m1, k1, sm, k1, m1; repeat at second shaping marker; 108st
