Link to the pattern collection: http://www.interweavestore.com/handwovens-design-collecti... This pattern is plain weave. All the “action” is in the color selection you make. I did not follow the pattern for the weft stripes so that the weaving would go faster.
Wound a 6 yard warp of 2328 yards of cotton. Weft yarn projected to be used is approximately 1430 additional yards.
This will be 6 dish towels with stripes in plain weave. The largest part of the yarn was Fox Fiber colored cotton that I bought over 10 years ago with thoughts of a baby blanket for a friend. DEEP stash! I also used colors from an assortment of coned cotton. I wasn’t sure about the colors together until I actually wound the warp. I had forgotten the effect of optical blending on the colors when they are mixed together. This will happen even more as the weaving starts.

Dressing the loom is almost complete. A couple of broken warp threads have to be repaired and I have to tie on to the front beam. I plan to start the actual weaving this week. Woo hoo! It feels good to be weaving again.

Two towels with just beige weft are done. One of the two beige with a red weft stripe is done, with the second one started. Not sure what the weft will be for the last two towels. There is a nice coral color that I could maybe use doubled or tripled. I’m thinking of using twill for the last two towels, just for sake of seeing the differences.

Almost done with towel 5. Wasn’t able to do twill due to the rinky dink way I threaded the heddles. Oh well. I decided to use a coral stripe that is the coral thread held tripled. It is awfully thin, but I think tripled was a little too thick. We will see when they get washed how well that worked. I think towel 6 won’t have a coral stripe, maybe a blue one or a green one.

Off the loom tonight! About 1430 yards of weft used. That makes a total of about 3700 yards used in this project. Can’t wait to see how they finish up with a wash, dry and ironing!

Done. Hemmed, washed, dried and photographed!
