Trip knitting. Garter stitch. Yay!

When I got to the end of the pattern I still had lots of yarn and the shawl was more like a shawlette. (BTW, due to using lighter weight yarn than the pattern called for I cast on about 50 more stitches than the pattern advised.) I wanted to use more yarn and I wanted it to be bigger so I just kept doing the last wedge (letting it get larger and larger). Every so often I knit all across the shawl and then started the short row pattern of the last wedge again. I used all but 6 grams of the Frolicking Feet, so the rest will go in the baby sock yarn jar. I still have about 300 yards and 39 grams of the lace. That is one ENDLESS SKEIN!

So it doesn’t look exactly like the picture in the pattern, but I really like it. The pattern works great for variegated yarn. The pairing with a solid makes it really pretty. The asymmetrical shape is great. I don’t always like when the symmetrical shawls are worn backward and look like a bib. This one will have the largest part over one shoulder and has a really long tail. So I think that it will be easy to wear.
