DK weight so I adjusted the pattern, casting on fewer stitches. I kept the same needle size. I had to start a couple of times before the size matched the fingering weight vertebrae that I had made before.

Used the entire skein with only about two yards to spare. Once I finished the body, I took the yarn and divided it into two color repeats for the sleeves. I used the scale to try to get the two balls to be the same size. I went until the yarn ran out so the sleeves are a little shorter than the the pattern calls for, but not by much. I had to piece the yarn at the end to get the two sleeves to match--more ends to weave in, but the effect was totally worth it! I also pieced the bind-off so it was done with all the same color. Being a little picky for a baby sweater, but again, I think the result was worth the extra ends.

Yarn fluffs up great with a vigorous hand wash before blocking. It is machine washable too, but I didn’t want to take the time! I really like this pattern and I hope that it is as mom-friendly as the pattern says it is. No front for spit up or overheating in the snugli, easy to put on and off, etc. Guess it doesn’t really matter since babies wear newborn size for about 10 hours before they outgrow it ;-)
