I am making some modifications to the pattern. On all the even rows I am increasing one stitch at the beginning (k2, M1, knit across) and then decreasing one stitch at the end (ssk, k3). My plan is for this to skew the triangle so it isn’t a right triangle and the shawl is less deep, longer from side to side, and a little asymmetrical. Will keep reporting how that is going.

Also, just looked more carefully at the yardages and I will have to decrease the size of the orange stripes as I go up. The pattern has the color A stripes staying constant and using about 100 yards more than I have. Oops! I have plenty of the pink Ella Rae and the color is so interesting that I think I’d like to decrease the orange as I go anyway. I may do the edging with the Ella Rae, too. Will keep you posted!

I am five stripe pairs in. I am now reducing the orange stripe by 2 rows, so now it will be 6 rows rather than 8. The next pink stripe will be 14 rows.

I decided to leave out the one border edge. I may have had enough orange yarn, but didn’t want to chance it. Also, the M1 at that edge had made sort of an edge line. I am very happy with the finished product and with the modifications that I did. I haven’t blocked it, but I won’t be changing the shape through blocking. So it will look just like it does as I am wearing it, except the stitches will have evened a bit and settle into themselves.
