I am using the stitch pattern and edging of this pattern, but making them dish cloth or face cloth size. On the first one I cast on 31 (multiple of 4, plus 3). It is a little small. On the second one I cast on 39 and it is a better size.
I decided not to make the loops for hanging them up, since they are dish cloths, but I am doing the attached i-cord edging. The fabric is wonderfully spongy!
The colors are dark brown, tan, red and orange. So far I have used only a two color pattern (Three and One Tweed), but I plan to make at least one of each of the patterns for a total of about 5 cloths.
The three color pattern (Triple L Tweed) is coming along. I cast on 37 stitches (multiple of three, plus 1) for a dishcloth size.
For the fifth dishcloth I decided to use all four colors so I extended the Triple L to make it quadruple (knit 3, sl 1, instead of knit 2, sl 1, with the slip stitches moving to the right as the rows progress. Very pretty! However, 4 balls of yarn make a pretty big tangle!
Four dishcloths have their i-cord edging. I’m not completely sure I did it correctly. I did the fifth one’s edging with crochet. I wouldn’t do all this fiddling and weaving in of ends for someone if I didn’t really like them! On the other hand, playing with the colors was fun!
I was able to make four more dishcloths from the yarn I had. Nine dishcloths from 4 skeins of yarn.
