I plan to use the modification that has the spider on one sock and the babies on the other. I don’t want baby spiders on the top of my foot and having to fit inside my shoe.

The pattern is to cast on 68 stitches, which isn’t a small number relative to the other socks I have knit myself. However, the sock seems a little small. I have tried them on and they work, but on the small side. If I knit them again (and I might! I love this design!), I will add 4-8 or so stitches on the side. It might be that my gauge is tighter due to all the fiddling I had to do with the cable needle to make the traveling stitches. Or maybe it is tighter due to the reverse stockinette. In any case, they seem smaller than my usual women’s small socks (6-6.5 shoe).

One sock is done and the other is to the heel! The sock that is done fits fine just as written. However, it is shorter than my usual socks. And, if it were longer, it would be a little too tight for that part of my calf. So, I think I would stick with my plan to make it a little bigger. I would also make the leg a little longer.

On the second sock, I made the baby spiders on the front of the leg, rather than the big spider. I followed the photo on Tien’s Choice-Charlotte Socks for approximate placement of the baby spiders. Love them!

I also shifted to stockinette for the foot of the sock because I didn’t want to do reverse stockinette for the whole foot of the sock.
