I didn’t really get gauge with this yarn, it seemed a bit too fine to knit with size 5&6 needles. I went down to a size 4. My gauge was 6.5 stitches to the inch. I knitted the 12-18 month size in order to get the 6-12 month size. I had to remember to knit the specified lengths for the 6-12 month size for the plain stockinette body and arms, otherwise I would have ended up with a very long, thin sweater.

The instructions were not clear as to which needle you should use to cast on. I used the smaller needle, then went up to the larger needle for the color work.

Although it was fun to knit the Vickle stitch, I can’t say it added a great deal to the sweater detail. It blends too much with the background yarn. It was pretty fussy for not as much impact as I had hoped for. Maybe try it as a contrasting color next time?

I didn’t really enjoy knitting with this yarn, it seemed pretty rough for baby knitting. But by the time I washed it in Eucalan and blocked it (giving it a bit of a toss in the dryer, too), I was pleasantly surprised. It softened considerably.

I’d really like to try knitting this baby sweater with a hand dye yarn.

I will definitely make another.
