Cascade Pacific feels like a light worsted - I downsized the needles. Cast on the small size, hoping to achieve newborn. However, the Pacific was only 21 stitches per 4 inch and the pattern gauge was 20, so it’s more like a small. No problem.

Ripped and reknit the first leg after I discovered I had totally hosed the crotch gusset. (Final picture is first leg prior to ripping.) Still struggled more on the gusset than I should have - just couldn’t quite wrap my head around it. Maybe better next time. And there will be a next time - the pants are darn cute and there are so many options in the pattern.

Legs were gradually tapered by reducing two stitches every two inches. Moss stitch cuff 1”. Twisted cord threaded through the ribbing (no buttonholes) for an optional waist tie. Parents can remove it if desired.
