Notes

06-23-2013 - Very excited to start this pattern. Though the pattern was intended for man, I do like all the interesting details and I am using smaller needles to make the socks for myself.

07-07-2013 - I definitely don’t have enough yarns for a pair of socks. So, found some leftover yarns in the same color tone for the toe section. Also I switched to US 0 needles when I reached the heel turn.

07-19-2013 - Finished the socks! And I love them! I always love sock patterns that extend the pattern into the heel flap because this makes the knitting so much more interesting there.

Great pattern with enough details to keep the knitting interesting but at the same time easy to memorize. After one repeat, I basically remembered the chart and could knit without referring to it … which also makes Birchwood a good carry-around project.

The yarn I chose was the one I made Stormy Cowl, so I knew there would be the possibility of not having enough for a complete pair of socks. So I used the leftovers of a similar colorway for the toes. It turned out I have just 7g left, and I’m keeping them for later repair, just in case.

I think the pattern will also be great on solid color.

I used US1 for the leg and switched to US0 after turning the heels.
