How to

1/ base:

38 sts x 124 rows in chess pattern with 2 selvedge sts

2/ Main body

pick up and knit every st at small sides and 3 sts over 4 at long sides. Continue in the round in chess pattern (there’s 2 sts to bind off at first round)
total sts:260
I worked 28 rounds

3/ close the top

With 36 sts from one small side + 8 sts from left side + 8 sts from right side ( 52 total)

Row 1: S1 work 50 in chess pattern SSK with next st on left side

Row 2: S1 work 50 in pattern P2tog with next st on right side

I worked 64 rows: 64 sts decreased.
total 196 sts left.

4/ make a border

K 1 round
With all the sts lying on the cord i made a crochet braid along that round between the sts ( crochet hook 6mm)

K 4 rounds (st st)
P 1 round to make a fold
K 4 rounds
Fold the stockinette and attach live sts to the first stockinette round (the one before the braid)= a kind of 3 needles bo… with 2 needles

I inserted a metallic wire to keep the « hood » straight

5/ handles (make 2)

Work 6 rows of linen st pattern
