Seamless Hybrid by Elizabeth Zimmermann
41" chest
Needles & yarn
US 8 - 5.0 mm
Malabrigo Yarn Twist
7.25 skeins = 1087.5 yards (994.4 meters), 725 grams

I’ve knit dog sweaters and kid sweaters but this is actually my first real adult sized sweater! Loved knitting it and I feel very accomplished now that it’s finished.

If you only ever buy one of EZ’s books, make it this one (Knitting Without Tears). It’s amazing. Read through the whole thing and you won’t be sorry!

This was my first time working with Twist and I really liked it. I imagine with all the moving and turning in my lap this sweater has done, it would have been quite pilly already if done in regular Mal Worsted. The Twist has held up great so far! blogged the hat in the last two photos is the Lina Hat I finished up for the Ravelympics.

Notes for next time:

  • Gauge: 4.25st/1” on size US8 needles (post blocking)

  • Cast on 174 body stitches, knit to 20” before joining (could add on another inch or two here next time)

  • Cast on 42 sts. for sleeves, knit 13 rounds before increasing, then 10 knit rounds between increases, knit to 22” before joining (need to CO more if adding facing)

  • Worked slip 2 sts together as if to knit, knit one, PSSO decrease at yoke

  • Decrease until 31 sts for saddles (including side of body sts)

  • Worked back and forth on saddle, until 18 front body sts have been incorporated. Then on back 16 sts of saddle until 10 more stitches on the back of the body have been worked. Put on holder, repeat for other side and kitchener together.

  • Knit 1” of 1x1 ribbing at neckline
